Facial hair grows from a flatter follicle, which is why it curls harder and reads coarse. It also sits over skin that has to cope with weather, collars and washing every day. Treat the two as one surface and the results follow: clean the skin gently, condition along the length, then set the shape. The kit is built in that sequence, deliberately.

Four years of beard, first time it behaves
I had grown the beard for four years and treated it with whatever shampoo was in the shower, which in hindsight explains the permanent itch along my jaw and ends that went in every direction. The change came from the order of operations more than any single product. Cleanser twice a week instead of daily, oil pressed in at the roots while still damp, brush downward, pomade only on the last third. Within ten days the itch was gone and the shape held without looking wet. I bought the 3-pack because the shipping was free and I did not want to think about reordering before spring.
The gift that actually got used
